Pricing depends primarily on the amount of time to perform the alteration. Many seemingly simple alterations are complex because of the detailed structure of the garment. Our standard price for shortening men’s dress pants is $20.00 (plain hem and no lining), for example, but cost of shortening  men’s dress pants may vary, depending on several factors such as the inclusion of cuffs, lining, width, and type of fabric—all of which increase cost . The price of hemming a simple non-formal dress may start at $35.00 and may increase depending on the style of the dress, the number of layers, any slits, and the like. Tailoring bridal gowns often requires hand-stitching and other intricate work. For these orders and others requiring an indefinite amount of time, we charge our clients hourly.  Our price is $55.00 an hour any substantial or elaborate alterations, including wedding gowns, formal wear, costume construction and other abstract custom work.  Custom dressmaking and custom home décor projects are $55.00 an hour. We always offer our clients an estimate at the consultation and are delighted to explain in detail the work or alteration steps involved.
